Re: Ford/Castrol brake fluid (fwd)

I've gotten several requests for this stuff, so here's the info. He's
right about GT LMA being enough - it's never boiled on me, but the Ford
stuff is very good.

Castrol SRF is the somewhat-rare ultra-fluid for racing that folks don't
usually buy because it is very expensive. Ford Motor Company buys the
stuff by the barrel, repackages it, and sells it as Ford Heavy Duty fluid
to owners of heavy-duty trucks. Anyone may buy it from Ford dealers
under part number C6AZ-19542-AA. It says "High Performance Dot 3" on the
front of the container. It costs considerably less than the
Castrol-packaged stuff, and is a favorite of track-event drivers.

Castrol GT LMA is the more-pedestrian stuff used by British car folk
because it is sure not to eat the oddball British rubber they may or may
not have in their cars. It is rated DOT 4, and may be used in all cars
except some (Mercs, Audis and ?) with weird fluid requirements.
Castrol GT LMA is certainly adequate for most cars in autocross, but a
more-boil-resistant fluid is probably required for racing or track events.
