Welcome to the list fellow racer.  There aren't many of us true 
racers here, but a lot of show guys.  I autocross a worked to the 
balls 79 Scirocco in DSP, and I dirt track an '86.

As for the gears you want, try calling my team mate, Bill Sherwood at 
CSE (Chassis, Suspensions, and Engines at 215-885-5570.  He has 
several parts trannies out back that may have what you need.  If not, 
he can give you the number for Morgan's in Delaware.  Morgan's has 
evrything, if he can find it.  :^)
