	Hmmm, possibly a cracked dash that was replaced by an 8V dash with
original VIN?  Isn't there more than one place with the VIN # on the car
(right underneath the clear plastic piece on the water-guard-thingee in
the engine bay?  (Y'know, that thing that covers up the computer,
blower-motor, windshield-wiper motor, etc.)  I dunno for sure, cuz my
car was a theft-recovery at one point, and that part of the car is both
sanded down and rusted to hell...

	Out of curiosity to the other Canuck list members with 8Vs.  Does your
speedometer show 260km/h as well?  If so, then my initial suggestion
might sound like a possibility.
