just replaced the CV on my car. about two months ago, I found the outer boot
with a big rip in it. It looked like it was at least a couple of weeks old,
judging by the size of the rip and the CV grease in the area. I debated
replacing
the CV then but felt poor so I bought a split boot at the local cheap autoparts
store. (came with CV grease) I completely cleaned out the CV and repacked,
glued
on the boot (wondering if it would even last a day.). While I don't want to
replace a boot again, it was kinda fun the first time. so, about two months
later,
and my CV is starting to go out. I call a couple places localy, the best I
found
was at Import Auto in Boulder (this shop is GREAT, very friendly, helpful, etc.)
they priced me a CV joint with boot kit at $89.27 (new, German) and a half-shaft
with CV installed (with boot) for $95.70 (rebuilt, but LIFETIME warrante) I'm
cheap
and I like german parts but I need to get this done for Solo week here in Dever.
I go with the axil. $30 core charge, I open the box, I get inner AND outer
CV with boots installed. This is great. about 45 min. and I'm set.
They guy at the shop said he'd esemate about two days with a rip before damage
occured with a CV. Boulder is known for it's high prices, but it seems like
a great deal compaired to mail-order (i.e. velocity) plus no shipping
problems...

LOST DRIVERS LICENSE:
Lost mine in '90 (I think it was) in an '89 Jetta GL. The third speeding ticket
on an under 21 license. When I went to the hearing for it, they gave me the
minimum
required penalty, 3 months loss. I ended up biking for a year due to insurance
increase
to $153 a month. (changed cars -pinto wagon aaaarrrrgh! and insurance companies
and
droped down to about $87/mo) Every ticked I've ever had (all speeding) I
recived
because I was upset about somthing when I was driving. NEVER take out your
frustrations on the road!!! too many idots allready......
