Kevin,

If you can use effnet, you can use the undernet.  It's a simple 
matter of changing your IRC server to one that services the undernet, 
rather than effnet.  There's nothing special involved.  Here's a few 
undernet servers for you to try:

Vancouver.BC.CA.Undernet.Org    port 6667
norman.ok.us.undernet.org              port 6667
washington.dc.us.undernet.org      port 6667
davis.ca.us.undernet.org                   port 6667

I posted this so that others on the list may benefit.  I was on #VW 
last nite for a bit, but alas, no Miles.........
